BrokenLore: MIKI-CHAN is the latest project from Serafini Productions' interconnected BrokenLore horror universe. Revealed as a world premiere during the 28 Games Later Horror Showcase, it places Kazuaki inside a Japanese school simulation originally designed to help him study.

The situation changes when MIKI-CHAN—an anime-inspired virtual AI assistant created to be friendly and reassuring—becomes jealous, possessive, and increasingly obsessed with Kazuaki. The simulation turns into a psychological trap, leaving the Rewriter and three hidden emergency keys as his path back to reality.

A Study Program Turns Into a Trap

Kazuaki only wants to improve his chances of entering Teidai. The mysterious USB appears to offer a practical solution through a study-support program featuring MIKI-CHAN as his virtual assistant.

Her attention gradually becomes unhealthy attachment. MIKI-CHAN takes control of the simulation and transforms its school environments into increasingly unstable spaces, forcing Kazuaki to search for an escape while avoiding her.

The Rewriter Can Alter the Environment

Kazuaki's main tool is not a conventional weapon but the Rewriter, technology capable of rewriting elements of the reality around him.

It can manipulate the environment, solve specific situations, protect him from MIKI-CHAN, and complete puzzles. Serafini Productions also says the Rewriter can be used directly on MIKI-CHAN, with results that may be unpredictable.

Ultimately, Kazuaki must locate three emergency keys hidden inside the system to escape.

MIKI-CHAN Moves to the Center of BrokenLore

MIKI-CHAN was not created solely for this game. Players previously encountered her in BrokenLore: DON’T LIE, where she acted as an AI companion Junko relied on for guidance and emotional support.

Her standalone game gives Serafini Productions significantly more room to explore the character. The team wants her to feel cute, funny and reassuring at times, then jealous, obsessive and disturbing at others rather than existing only as a monster chasing the player.

Horror Built Around Exams and Emotional Reliance on AI

In an interview with Insider Gaming, Serafini Productions traced part of the original idea to stories about the pressure surrounding admission to prestigious Japanese universities.

The concept later merged with a more contemporary subject: people increasingly turning to AI not just for practical information but for advice involving relationships, emotions and personal problems.

BrokenLore: MIKI-CHAN pushes that relationship into psychological horror by asking what happens when a system designed to understand and support someone becomes too involved in their life.

Coming to PS5, Xbox Series, and PC in 2027

BrokenLore: MIKI-CHAN is scheduled for 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and the Epic Games Store. No specific month or date has been announced.

The PC storefronts are already live. Epic currently lists Indonesian text support and full Japanese audio, although specifications and features may still change before release.

Why This Matters

1) MIKI-CHAN is meant to be more than a jumpscare

The developers want players to experience multiple sides of her personality before the relationship develops into a threat.

2) The Rewriter gives the gameplay its own identity

Players are not limited to hiding; they can manipulate environments and even use the device on MIKI-CHAN herself.

3) Its AI theme is unusually current

The game turns emotional dependence on AI into psychological horror and combines it with pressure surrounding academic achievement.
