The Main Trailer Takes Noriko Deeper Into Izark's World

The main trailer returns to the beginning of Noriko Tachiki's journey, following an ordinary high school student suddenly stranded in a world she does not understand. Its language, customs, creatures and surroundings leave Noriko without any familiar point of reference.

She eventually encounters Izark Kia Tarj, a traveling warrior who rescues her and becomes the person most capable of helping her survive.

The new footage expands the scope of their journey through different environments, creatures, battles and characters. Noriko and Izark remain the emotional center, but the conflict surrounding them clearly reaches far beyond their initial encounter.

Both Theme Songs Are Featured With the New Footage

The anime's opening is 逃光行 by 原因は自分にある。. Kiyoki wrote the lyrics, SARVAL composed the song, and the arrangement is credited to SARVAL, Orcaにゃん, KONPEKi, CS4W and Kiyoki.

The ending is 光の側で by 名無し之太郎. The band handles the lyrics and composition, with Matsuoka Motoki, Kinami Umi and 名無し之太郎 credited for the arrangement.

The main trailer provides the clearest pre-broadcast look at how both songs will accompany Noriko and Izark's world before the anime premieres.

Four More Cast Members Join the Series

The September 2 update also adds four characters to the official cast.

Kimiko Saito voices Gaya, while Tadashi Miyazawa plays Gorya, a diviner serving under Rachef. Taisuke Nakano voices Agol, and Miku Ito joins the anime as Geena Haas.

Geena is introduced as a young character who is unable to see but possesses the abilities of a diviner. Her father-daughter relationship with Agol is also highlighted in the cast comments.

They join previously announced leads Tomoyo Kurosawa, Kentaro Kumagai, Yuichiro Umehara and Eiji Takeuchi.

The Complete Adaptation Marks the Manga's 35th Anniversary

From Far Away is based on Kyoko Hikawa's manga, serialized in Hakusensha's LaLa between 1991 and 2002. The series has approximately 4 million copies in cumulative circulation and received a Seiun Award in 2004.

The 2026 anime was created to commemorate 35 years since serialization began. Official announcements also describe the project as an adaptation of the complete manga rather than a single selected arc, with Hikawa supervising the production.

Noriyuki Abe directs, Rika Takasugi handles series composition, Eiji Abiko serves as character designer and Studio DEEN is responsible for animation production.

Broadcast Begins on TOKYO MX on October 4

The anime begins on TOKYO MX on October 4, 2026 at 24:00 JST, before expanding to additional Japanese broadcasters.

AT-X starts on October 7 at 23:30, with repeat broadcasts on Fridays at 11:30 and Tuesdays at 17:30. ABC TV follows on October 10 at 26:30.

WOWOW begins airing the series on October 13 at 24:00 and lists every episode as a free broadcast. The official schedule currently does not specify streaming platforms or international distribution.

The Manga Collector's Edition Arrives One Day Later

The anime launch is also accompanied by a new manga edition. Hakusensha will publish From Far Away Collector's Edition Vol. 1 on October 5, 2026, one day after the TOKYO MX premiere.

The B6 edition features newly drawn cover artwork by Kyoko Hikawa and is priced at ¥1,980 including tax.

It also includes a 32-page booklet collecting color illustrations and previously unpublished rough artwork. Collector's Edition Vol. 2 is scheduled for the same date.

Why This Matters

1) The trailer finally shows the broader scale of the journey

The new footage moves beyond Noriko and Izark's first meeting to reveal more of the world, creatures, characters and conflicts surrounding them.

2) The opening and ending now have clear musical identities

逃光行 and 光の側で provide two new components that will shape the atmosphere of the weekly episodes.

3) The complete manga is planned for adaptation

The anime has not been announced as a single-arc adaptation; the project is intended to cover the full story under Kyoko Hikawa's supervision.

4) The anime arrives 35 years after serialization began

A manga that started in 1991 is receiving its first anime adaptation in 2026, accompanied by a new Collector's Edition release.
