LAM Launches Original Short Anime Project DemVAMPS With HIMEHINA Song “VAMPY”

Illustrator and character designer LAM has expanded into animation with DemVAMPS, an original short animation project officially launched on October 4, 2026. His involvement goes far beyond character artwork: LAM is credited with the original concept, script, direction, storyboard, character concept, and chief animation direction.

The project debuted alongside the “VAMPY” animation MV, offering the first full look at its vampire world. HIMEHINA performs the song as the story introduces the mysterious vampire Lavinia and a 14-year-old boy named 陽 amid a struggle for an abandoned vampire throne in Tokyo.

DemVAMPS Animation MV and Key Visual

LAM Takes On Multiple Major Creative Roles

DemVAMPS marks LAM's first directing project. In addition to directing, he is responsible for the original concept, script, character concept, storyboard, and chief animation direction.

LAM describes it as a project filled with the things he personally loves while acknowledging that many parts of the production are new challenges for him. He has also indicated that the project may develop gradually as its world expands.

Vampires Gather in Tokyo for an Empty Throne

The story revolves around a throne that no longer has a ruler. Vampires who have lived behind human society begin gathering in Tokyo as a struggle for succession begins.

At its center are Lavinia, a mysterious vampire who has lived for centuries, and 陽, a 14-year-old boy fated to serve her. The official site has already introduced a much larger ensemble, although most of their voice actors remain undisclosed.

HIMEHINA Performs “VAMPY”

The animation MV serves as the project's first major introduction. “VAMPY” is performed by HIMEHINA, with music by Hidehiro Kawai and lyrics by Gohgo.

The video functions as more than a music video, showing relationships, action, characters, and fragments of the political struggle that forms the foundation of DemVAMPS.

“VAMPY” is scheduled for a music release on November 27, 2026.

More Short Animation Episodes Will Follow

DemVAMPS has not been announced as a weekly seasonal TV anime. The team says additional short animation episodes will be released irregularly following the first MV.

No total episode count, fixed calendar, or standard runtime has been announced, making “VAMPY” the primary animated introduction to the project for now.

Why This Matters

1) LAM is deeply involved in animation production

His role goes far beyond character design, extending into writing, direction, storyboarding, and animation supervision.

2) The MV doubles as a world introduction

“VAMPY” combines HIMEHINA's music with the first substantial look at the characters and conflict.

3) The short-animation format allows a different rollout

Without a confirmed weekly TV schedule, the project can expand gradually through shorter releases and visual material.
