Azur Lane is bringing the rice created through its Azumeshi collaboration back as ready-to-eat festival food. Two salted rice balls made with Owari’s Gyaru Rice will be sold for 1,000 yen during AZUR LANE MUSI9 FES. on September 5–6, 2026.
The rice was previously available through an Owari-themed merchandise set. Its unusual production concept involved playing character ASMR throughout cultivation, beginning with the seeds and continuing until harvest.

Two Salted Rice Balls Cost 1,000 Yen
The event item contains two simple rice balls made with rice and salt. A serving costs 1,000 yen and will be offered in limited quantities.
Yostar’s Dai Miwaki explained that seaweed and conventional fillings were intentionally omitted. The uncomplicated recipe allows visitors to taste the old Hatsushimo rice without another strong ingredient covering it.
Purchasing an original event food item also includes one randomly selected paper coaster. Twelve designs are available, and customers cannot choose a particular character.
The Rice Listened to Owari ASMR During Cultivation
Owari’s Gyaru Rice originated from the first Azumeshi project, which paired the themes of gyaru culture and agriculture. Yostar worked with Gifu rice producer Kazuho Eino, which continues cultivating an old Hatsushimo strain.
Owari ASMR was played during seed preparation, seedling growth, planting, and the period leading to harvest. The official documentary shows speakers operating beside the field and headphones being placed on selected rice plants as part of the production concept.
Owari is voiced by Shion Wakayama. Her recordings contain gentle lines encouraging the plants to grow strong and healthy, matching the collaboration’s presentation of Owari as an agriculture-themed gyaru.
The ASMR treatment is a collaboration concept and part of the product’s story. No information has demonstrated that the sound scientifically improved the taste or quality of the crop.
The Project Began as a Rice and Merchandise Set
The harvested rice first went on sale through the Yostar Official Shop on December 20, 2025. Its primary set was priced at 13,200 yen.
The package contained six 300-gram bags of rice, a bowl, chopsticks, a chopstick rest, and a placemat featuring collaboration artwork. Separate acrylic stands, wooden keychains, and a lunch box were also produced.
MUSI9 FES. turns the rice from a collectible package into food that can be eaten immediately. Yostar has not announced whether the salt rice balls will remain available after the festival.
Part of Azur Lane’s Ninth-Anniversary Festival
AZUR LANE MUSI9 FES. will take place on September 5 and 6 at the Shinjuku Sumitomo Building in Tokyo. It leads into the ninth anniversary of Azur Lane’s Japanese service on September 14.
The festival includes music performances, talk stages, sound-focused exhibitions, merchandise, and dishes inspired by characters and in-game factions.
Owari’s Gyaru Rice Salt Rice Balls are part of its original menu. The item also connects the festival’s central theme of “sound” with a farming project that used recorded character voices during cultivation.
Why This Matters
1) The collaboration continues from the field to the table
The project did not end with artwork printed on a package. The rice was grown, harvested, sold as merchandise, and later turned into food for another event.
2) The serving deliberately avoids elaborate decoration
Without seaweed or fillings, the dish depends on Hatsushimo rice and salt. That approach differs from many collaboration foods built primarily around character colors and presentation.
3) The festival’s sound theme extends into food production
MUSI9 FES. centers on music and voices. Rice cultivated alongside Owari’s ASMR gives that theme a physical connection beyond its concerts and exhibitions.
