Dr.STONE TERRAFORMING Anime Announced, Adapting the Story After the Main Ending

A new Dr.STONE anime is officially in production even after the conclusion of SCIENCE FUTURE. Dr.STONE TERRAFORMING was announced during STONE FES.2026 at Yokohama BUNTAI on October 10 as the next animated chapter following Senku's completed TV anime journey.

The project adapts “TERRAFORMING,” the post-ending manga episode collected in Dr.STONE Volume 27. Its first announcement PV looks back at the Kingdom of Science's long history of crafting before a violent storm and lightning abruptly shift the tone.

> Light spoiler notice: this article discusses TERRAFORMING's position after the main Dr.STONE ending without detailing how the core story concludes.

Dr.STONE TERRAFORMING Announcement PV and Visual

The Story Continues Beyond the TV Finale

TERRAFORMING is explicitly positioned after the main Dr.STONE ending rather than somewhere inside an earlier anime arc.

That makes the new production a genuine continuation of Senku's story rather than a remake or an adaptation of material previously covered by the TV anime.

Volume 27 Provides the New Source Material

Shueisha released Dr.STONE Volume 27 in April 2024 after the main manga had already concluded.

The volume collects TERRAFORMING alongside the three-part 4D SCIENCE. The current anime announcement specifically names TERRAFORMING as the episode being adapted; there is no confirmation yet that all of 4D SCIENCE is part of the same project.

The PV Revisits Science Craft Before the Storm

The announcement video begins by looking back at the inventions and scientific progress accumulated throughout Senku's journey.

Its tone changes when a storm and intense lightning appear. A newly recorded Senku line then leads into the TERRAFORMING title reveal, teasing another situation that will force the Kingdom of Science to solve problems from the ground up.

Inagaki and Boichi Celebrate the New Anime

Riichiro Inagaki noted that the TV anime had successfully reached the manga's main ending, while emphasizing that Senku's scientific adventures still had more material beyond that point.

Boichi also welcomed the announcement and asked fans to look forward to further information.

For now, the production announcement stops there: release timing, format, full staff and distribution details remain unannounced.

Why This Matters

1) The TV finale is not the end of every animated story

TERRAFORMING officially takes the anime beyond the main ending.

2) It has direct manga source material

The sequel does not need an anime-original continuation because the post-ending episode already exists in Volume 27.

3) The status of 4D SCIENCE remains open

Volume 27 also contains three 4D SCIENCE chapters, but their inclusion in the new anime has not been confirmed.
