Early Access Is Officially Planned for Winter

The September 4 announcement gives Estella a clearer launch path after the Steam listing previously remained broadly categorized as an upcoming title. Early Access is now planned for winter, although no specific date has been announced.

Shochiku has also not revealed the Early Access price. The exact launch date, regional pricing and intended Early Access duration therefore remain pending.

The Early Access build is planned to launch with around 40 songs, including music written specifically for Estella.

On the story side, Early Access introduces Chapter 1, centered on Elina, the first protagonist chosen by the Golden Comet.

TGS2026 Gets a Special Demo With New Songs

Estella will be playable at Tokyo Game Show 2026, taking place from September 17–21.

The event build is not simply the same public Steam demo. Imanity and Shochiku are preparing an event-exclusive version based on the existing demo with additional songs that have not yet been released publicly.

The booth location, exact event-song lineup and visitor giveaways have not yet been detailed.

Mouse and Keyboard Define the Rhythm Gameplay

Estella takes a less conventional approach to PC rhythm-game controls. Its central play area uses an octagonal layout, with notes approaching from eight directions while the player aims using the mouse.

Keyboard inputs execute the rhythm actions. Different note types require tapping, holding and dodging, while Sky Notes add another layer above the main play field.

The presentation responds to the intensity of the music, reinforcing the game's concept of moving through space like a comet.

Every Planet Becomes Its Own Story Chapter

Estella connects rhythm gameplay directly with narrative progression. Players follow a Golden Comet traveling between planets while a mysterious purple force gradually disrupts the order of the universe.

Each planet functions as its own chapter with a distinct story, characters and songs. Narrative sequences use a visual-novel format and cinematic presentation, while progress unlocks additional tracks and story segments.

Non-main-story material can also appear through the Chaos Planet system.

Shochiku Games Joins the Publishing Team

The latest update also changes Estella's publishing picture. Shochiku Games is now officially involved alongside Imanity.

Steam currently lists Imanity Co., Ltd. and Shochiku as publishers. Imanity itself is a Taiwanese studio formed by rhythm-game enthusiasts and currently focused on developing Estella.

For the eventual full release, the team says it plans to expand the music library and story while also holding community events.

Why This Matters

1) Early Access finally has a release window

Estella has moved beyond a general coming-soon status with a confirmed winter target.

2) Around 40 songs form a substantial starting library

The Early Access build is planned to combine that music lineup with Chapter 1 rather than launching as a bare gameplay preview.

3) Mouse input plays an active rhythm role

Players aim around the octagonal interface with the mouse while using the keyboard to execute rhythm actions.

4) The TGS demo contains different content

Tokyo Game Show visitors will get access to new songs before they appear in the public Steam demo.
