The game is being developed by RX Studio under IO DIVISION, the organization that also oversees Blue Archive development. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, FAREIDOLIA places particular emphasis on living alongside its characters while retaining the combat elements shown in earlier footage.

Official Title Reveal, Teaser, and FAREIDOLIA's World

Project RX Finally Has Its Own Identity
NEXON says FAREIDOLIA was chosen to represent a story about discovering familiarity within a new world and forming new bonds there.
The project was first introduced in October 2024 without a final name. Following its 3D teaser in late 2025 and a broader global promotional push in 2026, the Project RX codename is now being retired.
The title announcement also marks the point where NEXON is beginning to explain not only the characters and visuals, but the player's actual place within the world.
You Run the Restoration Center and Live at Tasogare Hall
FAREIDOLIA takes place in Anima City, located in a world that strongly resembles Earth.
Players become Director of the Anima City Restoration Center while simultaneously managing Tasogare Hall, the organization's office.
It is also where the player lives alongside the Mates. NEXON's TGS site describes everyday moments such as shopping together, growing vegetables in a home garden, and sharing meals around the same table like a family.
One major mystery remains: why the Director is apparently the city's only public servant, and what their true responsibility really is.
Four Mates Step Into the Spotlight
Minieh is an explorer from the Explorer Guild whose knowledge can rival that of specialists. Usually cheerful and composed, she tends to lose that restraint whenever adventure enters the conversation.
Ohana calls herself a genius all-rounder. She displays extraordinary talent in almost anything she attempts, yet frequently wastes it on pranks and entertainment.
Shami is a cat-eared girl who is perpetually broke, partly thanks to bad luck and her habit of spending money on protective charms. Despite claiming she has no time to dream, she never misses her favorite idol programs.
Elevator Girl remains the most mysterious of the four. NEXON has only revealed that she is responsible for operating the elevator inside Tasogare Hall.
Everyday Life Is More Than Background Decoration
Even when it was still Project RX, the team repeatedly described a sense of everyday life as one of the game's central ideas.
In an earlier interview, Kim Yongha and Cha Minseo explained that the relationship between players and characters is intentionally designed to feel closer than Blue Archive's teacher-and-student structure. Players are meant to do things directly with the characters rather than simply watch their stories unfold.
Unreal Engine 5 is being used to render those characters, shared spaces, and lifestyle interactions in high-quality 3D.
Combat Is Still Part of FAREIDOLIA
Despite the emphasis on living alongside the Mates, FAREIDOLIA is not being presented as a purely social experience.
NEXON explicitly lists dynamic combat among the game's features, while the old Project RX teaser briefly showed skill animations after several peaceful daily-life sequences.
The exact combat genre, party structure, controls, progression systems, and relationship between lifestyle content and battle remain undisclosed.
The World-First Demo Arrives at Tokyo Game Show 2026
FAREIDOLIA will become publicly playable for the first time at Tokyo Game Show 2026, running September 17–21 at Makuhari Messe.
NEXON's dedicated zone will recreate Tasogare Hall, with attendees able to try the game and play a rock-paper-scissors mini-game against their preferred character.
The official event page also confirms that a new FAREIDOLIA trailer is scheduled for September 17, making TGS the next major information drop after the official title reveal.
Why This Matters
1) The player's role is finally clear
One of Project RX's longest-running mysteries now has an answer: players manage the Restoration Center while living with the Mates as caretaker of Tasogare Hall.
2) FAREIDOLIA is aiming for closer character relationships
Rather than repeating Blue Archive's teacher-student framework, RX Studio is building its new game around shared living and everyday experiences with the Mates.
3) TGS 2026 will be its first real gameplay test
A public demo and new trailer arrive in September, finally giving players a chance to see how lifestyle systems, Anima City's problems, and combat connect in practice.
