Anime Teaser Visual

WHITE FOX Will Animate the 2027 Series
The first announcement immediately confirmed WHITE FOX as the animation studio. The currently announced credits remain deliberately limited: Daken is credited for the original work, Shiba for the original character concepts, and WHITE FOX for animation production.
No director, series composer, anime character designer or composer has been announced. The anime cast also remains undisclosed.
Mars Survives by Eating Monsters
Mars is the first prince of Farune, but palace life offers little protection when he is constantly targeted for assassination. With poison appearing in his meals, he begins leaving the castle to hunt monsters and eat their meat instead.
His situation changes after meeting a red-haired woman carrying a greatsword who recognizes potential in him and takes him as her apprentice. From there, his increasing strength and the misunderstandings surrounding him gradually push Mars toward becoming an overwhelmingly powerful king he never intended to be.
From Web Novel to More Than 250,000 Copies
Daken first published the story on Shosetsuka ni Naro in January 2022. The web version concluded in January 2023 after 53 episodes, followed by Micro Magazine's GCN Bunko light novel edition that September.
The novels and Karin Suzuragi's manga adaptation have now passed 250,000 copies in combined circulation. Japanese light novel Volume 7 arrives October 20, 2026, followed by manga Volume 3 on October 29.
The Anime Cast Has Not Been Announced Yet
A previous promotional video for the light novel released in 2025 featured Takeo Otsuka performing Mars.
That video promoted the books rather than the TV anime. As of the October 9, 2026 anime announcement, Otsuka—or any other performer—has not been confirmed as part of the anime cast.
Why This Matters
1) WHITE FOX was confirmed from the first reveal
The animation studio is already known even though most of the production staff remains undisclosed.
2) Eating monsters is part of Mars's survival, not just a gimmick
He turns to monster meat because poisoned palace food leaves him with few safe ways to stay alive.
3) The print series is still expanding ahead of the anime
A seventh light novel and third manga volume are both scheduled for October 2026.
