Official Announcement and Doujin Cover

A New Release for Comic Market 108
Shiokoji revealed the cover of Mio-chan wa Majime na Ano Ko to Tsukiaitai as a new C108 publication from Shio Candy.
The circle is scheduled to participate on the event's second day, Sunday, August 16, at West Hall 1, booth hi-47b. Comic Market 108 will run for two days at Tokyo Big Sight, with participating circles open from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. JST.
Preorders are already available through Melonbooks. Shiokoji said that a BOOTH listing will follow, although its opening time and available package options have not been specified.
The cover announcement did not provide complete details about the price, number of pages, print format, store bonuses, or shipping schedule.
Mio and Reo Both Hide the Same Feelings
The book follows Mio, a relaxed gyaru, and Reo, a serious girl whose calmer personality makes her emotions more difficult to read.
Shiokoji describes their relationship as ryou kataomoi, a situation in which both people are in love but each remains unaware that the feeling is mutual.
The conflict therefore does not depend on a romantic rival or direct rejection. It develops through hesitation, misunderstood reactions, and the difficulty of openly asking the other girl to begin dating.
The title presents Mio as the person who wants to date “that serious girl,” but Reo is also introduced as having feelings for Mio.
Their Opposite Personalities Drive the Comedy
Mio appears more open through her fashion, expressions, and willingness to approach Reo. Reo acts more controlled, although the embarrassed expression on the cover suggests that her composure does not always survive when Mio moves close.
Their contrast creates room for moments in which Reo interprets Mio's casual words too seriously, or Mio fails to recognize the affection hidden behind one of Reo's short replies.
Because the book contains both manga and illustrations, their relationship can be developed through sequential scenes alongside standalone situation artwork.
The number of stories, chapter structure, and balance between manga pages and illustrations remain unannounced.
The Cover Places Them Close Together
The cover shows pink-haired Mio standing very close to gray-haired Reo. Both wear school uniforms, while hearts, stars, and arrows reinforce the romantic-comedy presentation.
Mio appears confident and active, while Reo looks surprised and visibly flustered. The composition emphasizes how differently the two girls respond to physical closeness.
A heart above them and arrows connecting the characters visually suggest that their feelings travel in both directions.
The artwork does not confirm a specific scene from the manga, however. The complete context of their relationship and its progression will only become clear inside the book.
Why This Matters
1) Both characters are already in love
The story is not only about one girl trying to win another's affection. Its tension comes from Mio and Reo gradually realizing that their feelings are already shared.
2) Their personalities strongly contrast
Mio's relaxed and expressive behavior is paired with Reo's serious and reserved attitude. Their different responses can create comedy without weakening the romance.
3) Manga and illustrations share one volume
The full-color format allows the relationship to develop through longer scenes as well as artwork focused on expressions, outfits, and individual situations.
4) Event and preorder options are available
Readers in Japan can look for the book directly at C108, while Melonbooks provides an option for those unable to visit Tokyo Big Sight.
