Announcement, Teaser Visual, and Celebratory Artwork

Liza Looks Ready to Draw Her Sword
The teaser visual shows Liza wearing dark training clothes, with her long red hair falling behind her and her sword still resting inside its sheath.
Her hand placement, expression, and posture suggest a training session with Eugene. The official account describes her as looking ready to draw her blade at any moment.
This is the first primary anime artwork to present Liza’s full design. It remains a promotional illustration rather than confirmed footage from an animated episode.
Anime designs for Eugene, Melis, and the supporting cast have not yet been revealed.
Eugene Wants to Surpass the Sword Saint
Eugene Dawson is a young swordsman living and training under Liza Parsandra, a warrior celebrated as a Sword Saint.
Liza possesses almost unmatched physical strength and swordsmanship. Outside combat, however, she can be absent-minded, unguarded, and unaware of how her frequent physical contact affects Eugene.
His original objective is simply to become stronger. That ambition becomes more personal after he hears Liza say she wants to marry someone capable of defeating her.
Training therefore becomes both Eugene’s path toward greater power and his opportunity to become closer to the woman he admires.
Living Together Makes Training Difficult
The central relationship is built around the contrast between Liza’s two sides.
During training, she is an overwhelmingly powerful mentor. At home, she is clumsy, relaxed, and often unaware of normal personal boundaries with her student.
Eugene must maintain his concentration through demanding sword practice and a steady stream of awkward domestic situations.
The balance between fantasy, romance, comedy, and fan service defines the series. The romantic competition expands when the legendary witch Melis becomes interested in Eugene’s potential and attempts to claim him as both a student and boyfriend.
Deregula Is Producing the Adaptation
The anime is being produced under Deregula, an animation label operated by WWWave Corporation that focuses on works with bolder themes and presentation.
Its name derives from “deregulation,” reflecting an intention to create projects without being excessively restricted by conventional production expectations.
The animation studio itself has not been named. Deregula is currently credited as the project’s producer rather than the studio responsible for animation work.
The director, series composer, anime character designer, music staff, episode length, and possible alternate broadcast versions also remain unknown.
The Anime Was First Disclosed with Volume 2
The television adaptation was initially revealed around the release of the manga’s second collected volume in January 2026.
Volume 2 launched in Japan on January 23, 2026, in a 124-page B6 edition priced at 836 yen including tax.
The August update advances the project with its first teaser visual, official anime account, preliminary credits, a message from Kennoji, and celebratory artwork drawn by R_ringo.
Kennoji explained that the story was written with an anime adaptation in mind, while R_ringo thanked the readers and production staff who helped the project become possible.
The Manga Has an Official English Edition
Seven Seas Entertainment has licensed the manga under the official English title My Sword Saint Master Is Too Cute to Live With!
English Volume 1 is scheduled for June 1, 2027, through Ghost Ship, Seven Seas’ imprint for mature-reader manga.
The release will be available in print as a single-volume edition and digitally. Seven Seas uses Liza Parsandra and Eugene Dawson as the official English spellings of the central characters.
The manga license does not determine the anime’s international distributor. Streaming services and overseas anime licensing remain unannounced.
Why This Matters
1) The visual immediately establishes the central dynamic
Liza is shown during training rather than in a formal standing pose, directly connecting the artwork to her relationship with Eugene.
2) Liza’s combat and domestic personalities are opposites
She is nearly unbeatable with a sword but far less composed in everyday life.
3) Eugene’s romantic objective is tied to his training
Surpassing Liza is connected not only to strength, but also to her statement about marrying someone capable of defeating her.
4) Deregula fits the source material
The original manga combines fantasy with suggestive romantic comedy, matching a label known for preserving the more provocative aspects of its projects.
