No Man’s Sky will make its mobile debut on iPhone and iPad on October 28, 2026. Hello Games has opened pre-orders as part of App Store Indie Games Week and stresses that this is not a cut-down mobile edition.

The entire procedurally generated universe arrives with more than a decade of updates. Hello Games has also rebuilt the touch interface from the ground up, reduced the installation footprint, and focused heavily on battery life and thermals for longer mobile sessions.

This Is the Full Game, Not a Lite Edition

Hello Games explicitly describes the port as the complete No Man’s Sky experience rather than “No Man’s Sky Lite.” Exploration, ships, vehicles, crafting, survival and more than 40 major updates remain part of the iPhone and iPad edition.

That includes Voyagers and the newer COSMOS update. The universe is still generated at runtime directly on the device rather than being presented as a streamed version from another platform.

Touch Controls Were Rebuilt From Scratch

No Man’s Sky has to accommodate movement, flight, first- and third-person perspectives, vehicles, mechs, crafting and inventory management on a touchscreen.

Hello Games therefore rebuilt the touch interface specifically for mobile. Players can also use controllers, cast the game to a TV, or use a mouse and keyboard on iPad.

Around 4 GB, With Battery and Heat Optimization

Hello Games' written announcement says the game comes in at under 4 GB, while the current App Store listing shows 3.8 GB. The Deep Dive description uses a broader figure of “just under 5GB.”

The studio also says significant work went into battery life and thermodynamics, both crucial for a large 3D game running natively on a phone.

Hello Games promotes iPhone 11 and 3rd-generation iPad Air as its starting point. Current App Store metadata, however, uses iOS 26 and A12 Bionic as the technical requirement, producing a slightly broader compatibility list.

The iOS Version Has Some Limitations

The mobile release will not support multiplayer at launch.

Planetary Settlements also require an iPhone 15 Pro or newer. Hello Games compares its approach to the original Switch release and says future iOS support will be shaped by player feedback and how many people play.

Why This Matters

1) The full game targets relatively old Apple hardware

Hello Games is promoting support from iPhone 11 and 3rd-generation iPad Air rather than restricting the port to the newest devices.

2) The touch interface was designed specifically for this version

The mobile controls are more than a simple virtual overlay copied from a console layout.

3) The game fits into roughly 4 GB

Runtime procedural generation helps Hello Games retain a huge universe without requiring a massive installation footprint.
