Main PV, Key Visual and Anime Stills

Main PV Expands the World of Grey Neighbor

Main PV Part 1 gives the anime's world considerably more room than the earlier teaser. Grey Neighbor is presented as a dungeon city filled with adventurers, guild business, violence and relationships that are rarely straightforward.

Matthew still appears to outsiders as little more than a man living on Arwin's money. The new footage again suggests, however, that the truth behind both characters is far more complicated than their public reputations.

MYTH & ROID and sajou no hana Perform the Themes

The opening theme is MYTH & ROID's “TRUE-TABOO.” Part of the track debuts in the Main PV, carrying a darker sound intended to match the series' noir atmosphere and its questioning of socially accepted ideas of what is “right.”

The ending theme is “偽花” by sajou no hana. Its concept is described as staying true to oneself while living with personal weakness, connecting the song more closely with Arwin's emotional side.

Vanessa, Dez and April Join the Cast

Vanessa — Rie Takahashi

Vanessa is an appraiser working for the Adventurers' Guild. She has an exceptional eye for appraisal in her profession, but her judgment becomes far less reliable when it comes to the men she dates.

Rie Takahashi highlighted the contrast between Vanessa's dedication to her work and the impression that the harder she tries in love, the further happiness seems to move away.

Dez — Tetsu Inada

Dez is a dwarf adventurer affiliated exclusively with the Adventurers' Guild. He is strong enough to handle rough adventurers with ease and has known Matthew for a long time.

Tetsu Inada jokingly described Dez as one of the relatively few decent and sensible people in a cast filled with troublesome personalities.

April — Rika Nagae

April is the Guild Master's granddaughter. She treats Matthew without prejudice and has enough courage to stand up to intimidating adventurers when they cross the line.

WARDOGS

Rika Nagae described April as bright, straightforward, kind, slightly cheeky and charming, while drawing attention to how she will fit into the story's darker and more tense world.

Revealed During Dengeki Bunko Autumn Festival

The new material was introduced around Dengeki Bunko Autumn Festival Online 2026, where The Kept Man of the Princess Knight occupied the first dedicated program after the opening.

Junichi Suwabe and Mikako Komatsu appeared with MC Haruka Mori to discuss the adaptation, while the program also featured anime footage and video comments from MYTH & ROID and sajou no hana.

Why This Matters

1) The Main PV begins showing the story's noir identity

The series is positioning itself as more than a comedic relationship between a princess knight and her kept man, with Grey Neighbor carrying a distinctly murkier moral atmosphere.

2) Three guild characters broaden Matthew's world

Vanessa, Dez and April demonstrate that Matthew already has his own network of relationships inside the city before the larger story fully unfolds.

3) The two theme songs reflect different sides of the anime

“TRUE-TABOO” leans into its shadowy worldview, while “偽花” is more directly tied to Arwin's emotional perspective.
