Serialization Begins in the October 2026 Issue

Young Ace will publish the opening chapter of Ooe: Ariake-hen in its October 2026 issue, which goes on sale September 4. The announcement gives the adaptation a firm date after it was previously scheduled only for summer 2026.

Ooe: Ariake-hen will also be featured on the magazine's cover. A special portrait card is included with the same issue, although its dimensions, featured characters, and relationship to the cover illustration have not been explained.

The magazine has not revealed the first chapter's page count or whether every following installment will arrive monthly without interruption. Those details may become available when the full contents of the October issue are published.

Ariake Becomes the Center of the Adaptation

The Ariake-hen subtitle places Ariake at the center of this manga version. In the original game, Osaki can unlock multiple story routes and relationships with the men attending the memorial service on Ooejima.

The manga has not been described as a complete adaptation of every route. It is also unclear whether it will directly reproduce Ariake's route, combine events from elsewhere in the game, or add original scenes for the serialized format.

Osaki remains the protagonist entering the island mystery. His relationship with Ariake develops alongside the investigation into Ann Ooe's death and the past connecting all of the mourners.

Ten Men Are Trapped in the Ooejima Mystery

The story takes place in 1955, while Japan still carries the scars of the Pacific War. Osaki, a young detective employed by the Shinkiba Detective Agency, accepts a request to attend actress Ann Ooe's memorial service while posing as his client.

The service is held on Ooejima, a remote island located even farther from Tokyo than Hachijojima. The mourners begin questioning the situation when no one has seen the host and the boat meant to return them to the mainland fails to arrive.

The discovery of a murdered servant transforms the gathering into a closed-circle case. Osaki and the nine other men must find the killer while uncovering their shared past and the circumstances behind Ann Ooe's death.

An Adult BL Game Becomes a Serialized Manga

Ooe originated as a BL visual novel created by ADELTA. Its first section was released in October 2024, followed by the Complete Edition containing all routes in April 2025.

The official Japanese website offers R-15 and R-18 versions, while MangaGamer uses Ooe as the source work's official English title. The manga currently has no separately announced global title.

Young Ace has not detailed how the adult material will be adjusted for magazine serialization. The manga's rating, content limits, and exact treatment of its BL relationships remain undisclosed before the first chapter's publication.

Why This Matters

1) One character route receives dedicated space

The Ariake-hen format can give Osaki and Ariake's relationship more room than an adaptation attempting to compress all nine routes into one short series.

2) A closed-circle mystery fits serialized storytelling

An isolated island, a missing return boat, and mutually suspicious guests provide natural chapter endings through clues, revelations, and further incidents.

3) Medamayaki must translate game structure into manga panels

Player choices, visual-novel narration, and static character presentation need to become sequential scenes. Panel composition will determine how tension and hidden information reach the reader.

4) The cover and supplement strengthen the debut

A magazine cover feature and portrait card make the launch more than the publication of a first chapter, giving readers additional collectible material with the opening issue.

Closing

Ooe: Ariake-hen brings the Ooejima mystery into manga form with Ariake placed at the center of its adaptation. Osaki, the mourners, and Ann Ooe's death remain its foundation, but the story must now be rebuilt without the original game's choice-based structure.

The first chapter will arrive on September 4, 2026, alongside a cover feature and special portrait card. Its chapter length, adaptation structure, rating, volume schedule, and international distribution remain unannounced.
