One Year Filled With Free Updates

TurretGirls originally launched on August 25, 2025 with Girl as the P.A.N.T.S.U. operative defending generators and charging humanity's superweapon against an alien invasion.

Over the following year, its scope grew significantly. Photo Mode arrived, the Shop expanded its meta progression, Raven became the second playable character, and Legendary Weapons plus the Midnight Siege stage added more build options and tougher challenges.

The anniversary announcement goes as far as describing the current version as practically a different game from what originally launched.

Multiplayer and a Third Character Arrive Together

The anniversary announcement confirms that the next update will introduce both multiplayer and a new playable character.

Her identity remains hidden. The teaser only shows the new recruit from behind with short silver hair, while her name and background have not been revealed.

NANAIRO ENTERPRISE says she will feature an all-new playstyle and bring several “toys” that will mix up gameplay across the full character roster.

The multiplayer format is equally undisclosed. The studio has not confirmed whether it will be cooperative, competitive, or another structure, nor how many players it supports.

The Roadmap Now Extends Into Q4 2026

The development plan has gained one additional stage.

After the multiplayer and character update, another free content update is scheduled for Q4 2026. The Steam announcement says this phase will further polish multiplayer and deliver final improvements.

The accompanying roadmap also points to additional multiplayer content along with final content and an ending, making the end of 2026 an important closing phase for the game's current update cycle.

Brazilian Portuguese and Russian Support Go Live

The anniversary also expands localization.

As of August 25, 2026, Brazilian Portuguese and Russian have been added alongside English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, Latin American Spanish, French, and German.

That brings the game's text support to 10 languages, although Indonesian is still unavailable.

Anniversary Merchandise Gets a Discount

The celebration also extends to official merchandise.

The Girl Hug Pillow at PoPiKO is receiving a 50% discount for two weeks as part of the first-anniversary campaign. The team also shared commemorative artwork from artists associated with the TurretGirls community.

The developers additionally teased another “big announcement” in the near future for players looking for further ways to support the project, although no details have been disclosed.

Why This Matters

1) Multiplayer changes a game built around solo play

TurretGirls has so far been designed as a single-player experience. Multiplayer is a much larger structural addition than another weapon or stage.

2) The new character is again being built around different mechanics

Raven already demonstrated that additional characters are more than cosmetic alternatives. The third character is similarly promised to have her own playstyle and gameplay tools.

3) The roadmap is beginning to point toward an ending

The Q4 update is not only about polishing multiplayer. The roadmap also introduces final content and an ending as part of the post-anniversary development plan.
