Announcement, Teaser PV, Steam, and Key Art

Steam Page Opens Ahead of the 2027 Release
The Girlfailure Art Club Steam page became available on August 5, 2026. Players can now add it to their wishlists, although its final release date and price remain undecided.
Windows PC is currently the only announced platform. ARTODRIA has not revealed plans for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, or mobile editions.
Steam lists single-player support, achievements, Workshop integration, and Family Sharing. The minimum configuration requires approximately 6 GB of available storage, while the recommended specification reserves 10 GB.
Six interface and subtitle languages are planned at launch: Japanese, English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Korean, and Brazilian Portuguese. Indonesian is not included in the current list.
A Tennis-Club Transfer Becomes Prince Senpai
The protagonist is an Akeba Academy second-year student whose default name is Mamoru Gasai. Players may change his name.
Mamoru originally joined the tennis club in an attempt to enjoy an active school life. He soon realizes that he cannot fit in with its loud and highly extroverted atmosphere, while school rules still require every student to participate in a club.
He chooses the art club because it appears to demand the least effort. Instead, he becomes the only male member among four girls who are deeply involved in different parts of otaku culture.
The girls quickly turn him into their plaything and give him the embarrassing nickname Prince Senpai. Their activities include sharing sketchbooks, visiting karaoke rooms and anime stores, and experiencing school events whose outcomes depend on the player's choices.
Three Romance Routes and One Unreachable Club President
Rinne Murata is a quiet second-year student with red glasses who shares Mamoru's class. She draws alone, follows underground subcultures, wants to enter a national arts university, and dreams of living independently in Tokyo.
Shoko Hasegawa is a third-year student and the art club's vice-president. Her love of comedy manga influences her exaggerated reactions and unusual style of banter. Behind her aggressive behaviour, she remains insecure about her height and body and hides a personal ambition.
Kana Kitano is a first-year student who hopes to become a voice actress. She speaks in a cute voice, verbalizes sound effects, and immediately treats Mamoru as her prince after falling in love with him at first sight.
Club president Yurie Ishihara appears gentle until she becomes angry. She writes self-insert fanfiction and is devoted to the fictional Kyoya Tobari. Because Mamoru has no chance of surpassing her favourite character, Yurie is officially excluded from the romance routes.
The Story Recreates 2010s Otaku Culture
Girlfailure Art Club incorporates references, memes, speech patterns, and community habits associated with 2010s otaku culture.
The term girlfailure is not intended simply to ridicule the cast. ARTODRIA describes it as part of a theme about girls who struggle to behave smoothly in social situations and become trapped in self-consciousness, while still being portrayed as lovable rather than disposable failures.
Todoki Uka writes the scenario while also handling production, direction, character design, and programming. Their own school experience as an art-club member informs the characters and the environment.
Player choices alter individual relationships and lead toward approximately six principal endings with additional variations. The current estimated playtime is around eight hours, although the final amount of content may change during development.
Why This Matters
1) The heroines are not presented as flawless ideals
Rinne, Shoko, and Kana carry social awkwardness, insecurity, and habits capable of embarrassing both themselves and the protagonist. Those imperfections form the foundation of their routes.
2) Otaku interests shape everyday club life
Karaoke, anime stores, sketchbooks, fanfiction, manga, and voice-acting ambitions become activities and personal goals rather than superficial character labels.
3) Not every club member is a romance option
Yurie remains central to the group's dynamic, but her devotion to a fictional character keeps her outside Mamoru's possible relationships.
4) The project draws from its creator's experience
Todoki Uka transforms memories of school art-club culture into a romantic comedy that laughs at youthful embarrassment without rejecting the people involved.
