Homura Hime, the anime-inspired 3D action game from Taiwanese indie studio Crimson Dusk, is now scheduled to launch for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. The updated window was revealed by PLAYISM on September 10, 2026, replacing earlier official material that had targeted the Switch 2 version for 2026.
Before the new version arrives, players will have an opportunity to try the Nintendo Switch 2 build at Tokyo Game Show 2026. Its demo includes a tutorial covering the core gameplay flow followed by a battle against Agasa, the Stage 1 boss and one of the Archdemons featured in Homura Hime's journey.

The Switch 2 Release Window Has Moved to 2027
The most important part of the latest announcement is the updated Nintendo Switch 2 release window.
When the Steam version launched on March 4, 2026, PLAYISM was still targeting a Switch 2 release within the same year. The currently indexed official game page also continues to show that older information.
The material released for PLAYISM GAME SHOW: TGS 2026 Preview, however, explicitly places the Nintendo Switch 2 version in 2027.
Because the September 10 announcement is newer, 2027 is the release window used here.
PLAYISM has not yet announced a month, day, price or any Switch 2-specific features compared with the Steam edition. The latest announcement also does not fully detail its distribution format.
The change can therefore be described as a shift from the previous 2026 target to a 2027 window, while the exact launch date remains unknown.
The TGS Demo Includes a Tutorial and Agasa Boss Battle
The Nintendo Switch 2 build will be playable as part of Tokyo Game Show 2026.
Homura Hime is being exhibited at booth 09-E65 in the Indie Game Corner, separate from PLAYISM's main booth at 07-C06.
The demo begins with a tutorial intended to teach the game's basic systems and flow.
Players can then battle Agasa, the Stage 1 boss. Agasa previously appeared in earlier demo and promotional material, and her Japanese voice is performed by Hana Hishikawa.
Tokyo Game Show runs for five days this year, from September 17 through September 21. The first two dates are Business Days, while September 19–21 are open to the public.
General attendees interested in trying the Switch 2 build will therefore need to visit during the Public Days.
Demo Players Can Receive a Lenticular Bookmark
PLAYISM is also preparing a physical novelty for visitors who play the demo.
The item is a lenticular bookmark featuring artwork of Homura Hime and Ann.
Its lenticular effect changes the displayed character depending on the viewing angle, switching between the Homura Hime and Ann illustrations.
The novelty will be distributed to demo players while supplies last.
PLAYISM has not disclosed how many bookmarks are being produced, so availability through the final day of the show is not guaranteed.
It is also a physical event bonus rather than DLC, a costume or an in-game item.
3D Bullet Hell Meets Combos, Dodges and Parries
Homura Hime was developed around a presentation inspired by Japanese anime, but its gameplay foundation combines character action with 3D bullet hell combat.
Enemies can fill three-dimensional space with large numbers of projectiles, forcing players to read patterns while remaining mobile.
Homura Hime can use dodges and parries to navigate those attacks. Both defensive actions can be triggered while attacking, preventing combat from becoming a strict alternation between offense and defense.
Melee and ranged attacks can also be combined into extended strings.
Skills, weapons and equipment provide additional ways to customize playstyles.
Boss battles are one of the game's major focuses. Each stage culminates in encounters with Archdemons featuring distinctive patterns and visual presentations, while defeating them can unlock special weapons or equipment.
Five Archdemons Drive Homura Hime's Journey
The story is set in a world where humans and demons coexist.
When people die while carrying exceptionally strong emotions or unresolved regrets, their souls can transform into Archdemons.
These beings possess enough demonic power to corrupt their surroundings, while creatures exposed to that corruption can become lower monsters driven almost entirely by instinct.
The emergence of five exceptionally powerful female Archdemons forces the High Priestess to dispatch Homura Hime, an exorcist from Jinguu who can control fire.
She travels alongside Ann, a divine messenger who manages Mihare Shrine as their base of operations.
Homura Hime is not simply tasked with destroying demons. Her journey gradually uncovers information about her own identity and the histories of the Archdemons bound to their respective emotions.
The Steam Edition Is the Current Gameplay Reference
The PC version of Homura Hime has been available on Steam since March 4, 2026.
Steam lists Crimson Dusk as developer and PLAYISM as publisher, with Action and Indie as its official store genres.
The game supports single-player, Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing, with 54 achievements currently listed.
Japanese is supported for interface, subtitles and full audio, while English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese support interface and subtitles.
The PC version also has an 82-track Homura Hime Official Soundtrack, released alongside the game.
Because the September announcement primarily concerns the Switch 2 port and its TGS appearance rather than a new trailer release, Steam gameplay screenshots are the most relevant choice for the article's 12-image grid, while the official PV remains included as supporting video material.
Why This Matters
1) The Switch 2 version finally has a new release window
After previously targeting 2026, the newest announcement explicitly moves the release into 2027.
2) Players can test the Switch 2 build before launch
TGS 2026 provides a direct opportunity to see how the action and 3D bullet hell systems perform on Nintendo hardware.
3) The demo goes beyond a basic tutorial
Players can immediately test dodges, parries and combo mechanics in a full boss encounter with Agasa.
4) Steam already provides a concrete reference for the full game
Unlike the port still awaiting release, the PC edition is already complete and provides a clear picture of Homura Hime's gameplay, story and boss structure.
