Frontier Test Announcement, Steam, and Gameplay

The Frontier Test Runs for Five Days in September
The new testing round is officially called the Frontier Test.
Applications remain open through September 6, while the playable test period runs from September 10 through September 14.
The Japanese announcement frames this as LIMIT ZERO BREAKERS' “second voyage,” inviting players to board the Weaver Whale once again and venture further into the still-unseen reaches of Seraphia.
The first announcement does not, however, provide every participation condition.
The total number of testers, regional allocation, selection procedure, and exact server opening and closing hours have not been fully detailed in the post.
The same applies to the content lineup. There is not yet a complete confirmed list of playable Breakers, story chapters, new bosses, tester rewards, or whether Frontier Test progression will be wiped afterward.
Those details should therefore be treated as pending until NC or VIC GAME STUDIOS publishes a dedicated test notice.
It Follows June's Prologue Test
LIMIT ZERO BREAKERS previously held its Prologue Test from June 11–15, 2026.
NC used that build as the first broad opportunity for players to experience the game's opening story and major gameplay systems.
The test contained 11 playable characters with different combat styles and five boss raid encounters. Players could progress through solo content, while selected raid activities supported parties of up to three.
When the test ended, character information, progression, currencies, and other test data were deleted and did not carry into the future live service.
NC said feedback gathered from global players would be used to improve the project before launch.
The Frontier Test is therefore the next major opportunity to see how the build has evolved since June, although the full September change list has not yet been published alongside the initial recruitment post.
Dodges, Parries, and Counters Drive the Action Combat
Action combat remains one of LIMIT ZERO BREAKERS' defining pillars.
The official website describes a system where successful dodges and parries can lead directly into more powerful counterattacks.
Defensive timing therefore serves an offensive purpose rather than simply preventing damage.
The Prologue Test also emphasized character combinations and elemental interactions.
Players build a team of Breakers with different combat roles and abilities, using their respective strengths to respond to encounters ranging from regular enemies to large bosses.
Steam describes the broader journey as one through ancient dungeons and battles against massive monsters while searching for the Archive of the Gods.
The result is an RPG structure where character composition and action execution are designed to matter at the same time.
Boss Raids Expand the Game Beyond Solo Story Content
Storytelling remains a major part of the project, but multiplayer is also positioned as a core activity.
The official homepage specifically highlights Boss Raids as an extension of the Breakers' story and action gameplay.
The Prologue Test included five raid bosses, with some content supporting three-player multiplayer.
Steam currently lists Online Co-op and Cross-Platform Multiplayer among the product's features.
That means LIMIT ZERO BREAKERS is not being presented as a purely single-player story RPG.
Instead, its structure is intended to support both individual progression through Seraphia and cooperative encounters where groups tackle larger threats together.
The final live-service details—including party limits, matchmaking structure, raid rewards, and long-term endgame progression—remain to be fully announced.
Seraphia and the Search for the Archive of the Gods
The story takes place in Seraphia, a fantasy world made up of floating landmasses.
Legend speaks of the Archive of the Gods, a place preserving knowledge from before the continents were torn apart and said to have the power to grant wishes.
Different Breakers begin pursuing it for their own reasons.
Protagonist Kaito eventually becomes involved with Xion, owner of the Weaver Whale, as she searches for the fragments needed to reach the Archive.
The ship becomes a meeting point for multiple Breakers whose personal motivations do not necessarily align even though they continue traveling toward the same larger destination.
The presentation is built around the idea of “playing an animation,” with anime-inspired character acting, cinematics, expressions, and combat transitions forming part of the game's identity.
KADOKAWA is also involved with the property in Japan, where LIMIT ZERO BREAKERS has already expanded into original comic and other media-mix projects.
Steam Already Lists Features and PC Requirements
Even without a final launch date, the Steam page provides a fairly detailed look at the planned PC release.
The storefront currently lists single-player, online co-op, cross-platform multiplayer, in-app purchases, and Family Sharing.
Five text languages are shown: English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. English, Japanese, and Korean also include full audio.
The minimum PC configuration requires Windows 10, an Intel Core i3 9th Gen or AMD Ryzen 3 3rd Gen processor, 16 GB RAM, a GTX 750 Ti or GTX 960 4 GB, and 20 GB of storage.
The recommended setup moves to Windows 11, an Intel Core i5 9th Gen or Ryzen 5 3rd Gen, 16 GB RAM, and a GTX 1060, Radeon RX 570, or Intel Arc A380.
Steam also currently displays Join the LIMIT ZERO BREAKERS Playtest – Request Access alongside the main game's Coming soon status.
The Release Is Still Set for 2026, Without a Final Date
The current Japanese official site lists 2026 as the game's release year.
Steam has not narrowed that window and continues to display Coming soon.
The planned ecosystem includes Windows, iOS, and Android, with Steam and PURPLE serving the PC side.
The official site also lists App Store and Google Play as upcoming mobile destinations.
A global launch date, preload timing, server-opening schedule, and final pre-registration rewards have not been announced.
The September Frontier Test is therefore an important development milestone, but it should not be interpreted as confirmation that the full release will immediately follow the test.
NC and VIC GAME STUDIOS still need to announce the final launch schedule separately.
Why This Matters
1) The next test arrives only a few months after the Prologue Test
The turnaround from June to September gives players an early chance to see how the project is changing after its first major round of global feedback.
2) Combat depends on active defensive timing
Dodges, parries, and counters are central to the battle rhythm rather than secondary mechanics, rewarding players for reacting correctly to enemy attacks.
3) Story and multiplayer are designed to coexist
LIMIT ZERO BREAKERS combines character-driven exploration of Seraphia with boss raids and online co-op, giving the project both solo and group-oriented progression.
4) The Frontier Test arrives while the launch date remains open
The game is still targeting 2026 without a specific date, making the September test a useful development milestone without locking the project into an immediate release.
