SlashZero is currently offering a substantial look at its systems before launch. Its limited-time Steam and PlayStation 5 demo remains playable until September 23 at 3:00 PM UTC, or September 24 at midnight JST, with more than 10 hours of content built around three Timehackers, bosses, roguelike builds and permanent progression.
A sponsored Denfaminicogamer hands-on published September 14 focuses on the combination that immediately defines the game: 3D anime visuals, cyberpunk, side-scrolling combat and roguelike progression. Beyond Fina's dual-pistol style, however, the demo also includes full ground-to-air combo routes, parkour movement, branching runs, Blessings, Chips and bosses that punish careless offense.

Story Trailer, Steam Demo and PS5 Demo

Fina Brings Gun-Kata Into SlashZero's Cyberpunk World
One of the strongest visual hooks in Denfaminicogamer's hands-on is Fina. She fights with dual pistols, but the animation turns her ranged combat into something closer to gun-kata than a conventional shooter character standing at a distance.
Streetlamp Studio describes Fina as a highly capable android combat unit. Her preferred arsenal includes the Executor dual pistols and Annihilation Beam, while weapons such as Armor-Piercing Bullets and LS-7 Micro Bombs are distributed through the Chip system.
Her background is directly connected to the central conflict. Fina was part of the Nirvana Forces, an android unit created around one mission: defeat HIEROS-I. Every member was built with the same body and powered by a compact fusion reactor known as a kinetic engine.
What remains of Fina's past is a Nirvana Forces badge and fragmented information about a confrontation at St. Rosenburg. Having lost her memories, she carries one of the story's larger mysteries into the full game.
Nyx and Hamlet Change the Entire Combat Rhythm
The demo does not lock players into Fina.
Nyx provides a close-range alternative with twin Vibroblades. Streetlamp describes him as an assassin specializing in close-quarters combat while retaining throwing knives for ranged pressure.
His character design was deliberately reshaped around the idea of a rebellious, impulsive teenager. His unusual arm and eye are tied to a deeper mystery, and HIEROS-I refers to him as “the one who betrayed reality.”
The third character is Hamlet, unlocked through progression. He first appeared in a June 2026 global trailer, but the September build marks his first public playable appearance.
Denfaminicogamer's demo impressions describe Hamlet as a former actor turned gentlemanly robot who calls himself a knight. His sword-and-shield kit is heavier than Nyx or Fina and works especially well against groups.
Switching Timehackers therefore affects much more than presentation. Range, combo tempo, crowd control and optimal upgrade choices all change.
Side-Scrolling Does Not Limit the Combat to a Flat Plane
Streetlamp Studio identifies three pillars behind SlashZero's combat design: parkour, vertical ground-to-air combat and growth-driven variety.
The camera remains side-on, but its stages contain vertical layers. Players can jump, double jump, wall jump, air dash, launch enemies, perform plunge attacks and maintain combo strings in the air.
The studio's goal is to make aerial combat a complete second route rather than a brief extension of ground attacks.
The September demo also incorporates several changes from earlier testing. Dodge timing has been adjusted, players can use a zero-cost dodge to recover from hit-stun, jumping has been standardized, and Block and Perfect Dodge now belong to the base kit.
Bosses still punish reckless play. Denfaminicogamer encountered enemies such as Break, Gramus and Lightscale Venomwing, where recognizing patterns and knowing when to stop chasing damage becomes as important as producing long combos.
The Roguelike Systems Change Moves, Not Just Numbers
Entering a timeline presents players with branching nodes containing different rewards and events.
Those rewards can include attack enhancements, new moves, Blessings, Chips or resources that gradually define a run.
Steam identifies several major layers: Authority Blessings, Temporal Fragments and Upgrade Chips. Their function goes beyond percentage bonuses, with some changing how an attack or character actually behaves.
The latest demo expands its later progression through the new Infinity of Space Authority, Tier 2 Chips, additional Authority Codes and Dual Blessings.
A failed run is not necessarily wasted. Resources recovered along the way can be spent at the base on permanent progression, including stat improvements, additional rerolls and other long-term advantages.
Denfaminicogamer specifically highlights revival as an important upgrade because it can provide another opportunity after defeat. The result is still an action game that demands execution, but repeated failure can steadily improve the player's chances.
Timehackers Dive Through Broken Timelines to Hunt HIEROS-I
Behind its action systems, SlashZero frames its story around collapsing timelines.
HIEROS-I, the Lord of the Void, is the central target of the Timehackers. His rise shattered the world's order and the seven Authorities that define its fundamental rules.
The official website identifies those Authorities as Eternity, Hope, Infinity, True Self, Wisdom, Law and Causality.
As a Timehacker, the player crosses different timelines, gathers power, searches for Timeline Zero and attempts to understand what actually happened before HIEROS-I destroys what remains.
The September State of Play Story Trailer adds doubt to the mission itself. Timehackers are told to kill HIEROS-I, yet another part of the trailer questions whether what they have been told can be trusted.
That makes Steam's recurring line, “Is what you see the truth?”, more than marketing flavor. The timeline system is both a roguelike structure and a way of piecing together the narrative.
The September Demo Is Far Larger Than the Earlier Test
This is not a tiny two-stage sampler.
Streetlamp Studio officially describes the demo as containing more than 10 hours of content, three playable Timehackers, several secret bosses, Bond Levels, refreshed environments and later-game build options.
Erik and Ye can be challenged as secret bosses after specific requirements are met. HIEROS-I also makes a first appearance within the progression available in this build.
The demo is explicitly a data-wipe test. Save data will be erased when the period ends and has not been announced to transfer into the finished product.
The official window runs from September 3 at 3:15 PM UTC through September 23 at 3:00 PM UTC, corresponding to September 4 at 12:15 AM through September 24 at midnight JST.
As of September 14, players still have roughly ten days to explore the build.
The Full Game Targets Spring 2027
Streetlamp Studio and PlayStation both use Spring 2027 as the official launch window.
Steam currently displays Q1 2027. Neither announcement includes a specific calendar date, so there is no confirmed day or month yet.
Pricing is also unannounced.
The full release is confirmed for PC and PlayStation 5. The PC store page is already open for wishlisting, while PlayStation currently provides the PS5 demo and game concept listing.
Denfaminicogamer's September 14 article is explicitly labeled as a tie-up / sponsored project with Streetlamp Studio. Its subjective comments about visual appeal or how satisfying the combat feels should therefore be read as hands-on impressions, while the factual product details and schedule in this article have been cross-checked against official sources.
Why This Matters
1) The anime presentation is tied directly to combat identity
Fina, Nyx and Hamlet have distinct animation sets and combat roles rather than functioning as cosmetic swaps.
2) Side-scrolling supports a full vertical combat route
Aerial strings and parkour give the side-on perspective more depth than a traditional flat brawler.
3) Roguelike builds can reshape moves
Authorities, Blessings, Fragments and Chips are designed to change playstyle rather than simply stack damage percentages.
4) The demo gives players a substantial pre-purchase test
With more than 10 hours, three characters, bosses, secret encounters and meta progression, there is enough material to evaluate the core systems well before Spring 2027.

Closing
SlashZero combines an immediately recognizable set of influences—anime, cyberpunk, gun-kata, side-scrolling action and roguelike progression—but its September demo shows those ideas working as concrete systems. Three Timehackers offer distinct styles, combat moves continuously between ground and air, and both run-specific builds and permanent upgrades encourage another trip into the timelines.
The Steam and PS5 demo remains available until September 23 at 3:00 PM UTC, or September 24 at midnight JST. The full game targets Spring 2027, with a specific release date and pricing still unannounced.
