Two Modes Separate Casual Dance Play From a More Demanding Rhythm Game

Sanrio Kawaii Me Live! does not force every player into a single rhythm-game format.

Performance Mode is designed as the more accessible path. Its controls are simpler, with much of the attention placed on Sanrio characters dancing to the music on stage.

That design lets players with little rhythm-game experience enjoy the performance and animation side without immediately dealing with highly demanding note patterns.

The second option is Technical Mode, officially described as a more old-school and full-fledged rhythm-game experience.

Together, the two modes give the game room to preserve Sanrio's character-driven appeal while still offering a path for players looking for more mechanical challenge.

Outfits, Stages and Effects Let Players Build Their Own Live Show

The rhythm-game component is only one part of Kawamira.

Players can also change character live outfits, select stage decorations, and adjust special effects to create their own presentation.

Sanrio describes the result as a “super KAWAII” stage.

Customization also plays a major role in the newly released concept PV. Rather than focusing only on notes and gameplay UI, the video highlights characters in different costumes performing across colorful stages.

Sanrio continues to note that the designs currently being shown are still in development and may differ from the final release.

ZUTOMAYO Provides the New Main Theme Almond Dialogue

The biggest musical addition in the September 21 announcement is ZUTOMAYO.

The group is contributing the new track “Almond Dialogue” (アーモンド問答), officially identified as the main theme of Sanrio Kawaii Me Live!.

In her accompanying comment, ACAね explained that My Melody has long been a character she has been interested in, with My Melody's association with almond pound cake feeding into the concept behind the song.

ZUTOMAYO joins six previously announced Universal Music artists supplying original songs for the game: Soala, SHE'S, Lienel, Polkadot Stingray, Yabai T-Shirts Yasan and Mi'Line Hearts.

Several song titles are already public. The official website currently lists 無礼な! by Polkadot Stingray, ミルクティー by Soala, 積極的ヒロイン by Mi'Line Hearts and Toy Box by SHE'S.

The Yabai T-Shirts Yasan and Lienel titles are still marked as coming soon on the official music lineup.

Existing Sanrio Music Returns Alongside Original and Remixed Tracks

Kawamira is not relying entirely on new tie-up material.

The official website currently lists several songs already connected to Sanrio characters and entertainment:

  • KAWAII FESTIVAL(ゲームRemix)
  • Welcome to this World of Dream(ゲームRemix)
  • まんまるらいと(ゲームRemix)
  • Greedy Greedy
  • プリンとマフィンのポムポムビート☆
  • めろめろ♡マイメロディ
  • ろまんてぃっくバナナパルフェ

Some are receiving game-specific arrangements.

The overall soundtrack therefore combines established Sanrio music, character songs, special remixes and newly written material from outside artists.

The complete launch-song count has not yet been formally detailed in this latest announcement.

Pre-Registration Rewards Scale Up to One Million

Pre-registration is tied to more than a simple store wishlist.

Sanrio combines App Store pre-orders, Google Play pre-registrations and follower totals from the Japanese and global official X accounts when calculating campaign milestones.

The currently announced rewards are:

  • 50,000: Cosmo Soda (L) ×10
  • 100,000: Kawamilite ×3,000 and Time Travel Ticket ×10
  • 200,000: ★1 Accessory Set for 15 characters
  • 300,000: Gacha Ticket ×10
  • 500,000: Character Sticker Set
  • 800,000: Guaranteed ★3 Gacha Ticket ×1
  • 1,000,000: Sanrio Games Mira Wear for Hello Kitty

There is one small terminology difference worth noting: Famitsu's initial report called the 800,000 milestone reward an SSR character ticket, while the current official campaign page labels it a Guaranteed ★3 Gacha Ticket. This article follows Sanrio's latest primary-source wording.

Rewards are distributed after service begins and are intended for all eligible users during the claim period, rather than only those who personally pre-registered.

The campaign is currently scheduled to run through January 13, 2027 at 11:59 PM JST.

Launch Celebration Live Comes to Yokohama on January 14

Sanrio is also taking Kawamira's music into a physical venue.

The Sanrio Kawaii Me Live! Release Celebration Live will be held on January 14, 2027 at Yokohama Kannai Hall.

Doors open at 5:45 PM and the show begins at 6:15 PM, with reserved-seat tickets priced at ¥4,000 including tax.

The currently announced artist lineup includes:

  • Soala
  • SHE'S
  • Lienel
  • Polkadot Stingray
  • Yabai T-Shirts Yasan
  • Mi'Line Hearts
  • Artist KUROMI

Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin and My Melody are also scheduled to appear.

Notably, despite ZUTOMAYO now providing the game's main theme, the group has not been listed among the currently announced performers for the January 14 concert. Its participation should therefore not be assumed unless Sanrio makes an additional announcement.

The Exact Game Release Date Still Needs to Be Separated From the App Store Listing

One detail can easily create confusion.

Sanrio's official announcement only gives January 2027 as the global release window.

The App Store, however, currently displays Expected Jan 14, 2027.

That date happens to match the day of the release celebration live, but Sanrio has not explicitly announced “January 14, 2027” as the confirmed launch date through its main release or game website.

Because pre-release store dates can change before launch, January 2027 remains the safest official schedule for now.

The same caution applies to regions and languages. Sanrio is calling this a global release, but the complete country list and full day-one language support have not yet been detailed.

Why This Matters

1) Sanrio is not building only a lightweight rhythm game

Performance Mode and Technical Mode separate the casual and rhythm-game-focused experiences instead of forcing both audiences into a single difficulty model.

2) External music is becoming a major part of the game's identity

ZUTOMAYO now provides the main theme, while six Universal Music acts are supplying additional original songs beyond Sanrio character music.

3) Customization sits near the center of the experience

Players are not only selecting songs and characters; they can also shape outfits, stages and the overall presentation of each live show.

4) The launch expands into a real-world music project

The dedicated launch concert shows Sanrio connecting the mobile game with music performances and character entertainment outside the application itself.

Closing

Sanrio Kawaii Me Live! is now much closer to launch, with a January 2027 global release window, open pre-registration, a new concept PV, ZUTOMAYO's main theme and a full milestone-reward campaign. Its blend of rhythm gameplay, dance performances, customization and artist collaborations is becoming increasingly clear.

What remains unknown is Sanrio's final launch date, the complete song and region lineup, the full character and monetization details, and whether additional performers will join the release celebration concert. For now, the January 14 date shown on the App Store is best treated as an expected store date, while Sanrio's confirmed public schedule remains January 2027.
