PSYCHOFINGER takes the idea of a finger gun literally. Developed by Monkey Business Studio, the fast-paced roguelike FPS casts players as an agent of the Department of Metaphysical Investigations, throwing them into arenas filled with strange creatures that must be blasted apart using their own hands.
The concept extends far beyond a single pointing animation. Players can build synergies from upgrades, unlock and switch weapons, activate abilities through recognizable hand gestures, fight bosses and uncover multiple endings that gradually reveal the game's deliberately cryptic story.

Gameplay, Hand Gestures and Steam
Your Fingers Are More Than a Visual Gimmick
PSYCHOFINGER's most immediately recognizable idea is its replacement of conventional firearms with the player's own hands.
From the first-person perspective, a finger is aimed like a pistol before firing directly at enemies. Gameplay material also shows attacks behaving like different weapon types, meaning the finger-gun concept is not limited to a single basic shot.
More recent descriptions additionally state that players can collect different weapons and hot-swap between them in combat. Each has its own characteristics, while ammo management creates a choice between clearing the current wave or preserving resources for the next boss.
It still functions as a high-speed FPS, but its entire visual vocabulary for weapons is deliberately built around hands and exaggerated gestures.
Hand Signs Become Actual Combat Abilities
The stranger part begins when those hands stop behaving like simple guns.
The official PlayStation listing details several gestures. Photo Pose produces a blinding flash that stuns enemies. Heart Sign grants invincibility, while Middle Finger fuels rage for major damage.
An official September 2026 X clip also showcases “KON,” performed through a fox-shaped hand gesture. Denfaminicogamer describes the ability as attacking enemies within an area using a mysterious giant hand.
Because PSYCHOFINGER remains in active development, exact values, balancing and even some final effects can still change before release.
What is already clear is that recognizable hand signs form part of the game's core combat vocabulary rather than existing simply as visual jokes.
Ricochets and Spare Left Hands Can Push Builds Into Absurd Territory
The roguelike structure allows every run to grow through perks and upgrades.
Players can increase offensive power, select defensive perks, make use of summons and search for combinations that reinforce one another. The intended arc moves from being overwhelmed by enemy waves to building something that feels almost unfairly powerful.
Bosses are also tied to progression through Mega-Perks.
Official examples include low gravity, ricochet bullets, and even gaining a spare left hand.
The September 3 official X clip focuses specifically on ricochet with the caption “I LOVE RICOCHET,” demonstrating attacks continuing to bounce instead of simply disappearing after the first impact.
That progression makes PSYCHOFINGER feel more like an experiment in increasingly ridiculous builds than a shooter built around one fixed loadout.
The Department of Metaphysical Investigations Has Its Own Mystery
There is also a story underneath the finger guns, bizarre creatures and deliberately silly upgrades.
Players serve as agents of the Department of Metaphysical Investigations, an organization dealing with metaphysical threats. Early footage repeatedly places combat inside a church-like location where waves of unusual enemies appear.
Steam says completing levels can unlock new endings and reveal the weird and cryptic storyline.
The developers have also worked on animated short cutscenes intended to add further context to what happens throughout a run.
Its colorful, cartoon-like art direction therefore does not mean the world is entirely lighthearted. Grotesque hybrids, supernatural imagery, reality-warping bosses and the mystery surrounding the Department give the game a surreal layer beneath its comedy.
Playtest Registration Is Open, but Full Timing Remains Undated
Digital Bandidos opened registration for the Psychofinger Playtest, also called The Psycho Test, on February 19, 2026.
The early build for selected applicants is planned to contain one level, a limited item pool and the core upgrade system.
Its purpose is to test the fundamentals, particularly difficulty balancing and how quickly new players can understand the systems without slowing down the pace of combat.
The current Digital Bandidos game page continues to link to the playtest signup. However, the verified official material still does not provide a specific public deployment date for that build.
Official September posts have even used the wording “posting daily until we release a playtest,” showing that development updates are continuing as the team works toward that stage.
Steam Is Not the Only Store Listing Already Online
Denfaminicogamer describes PSYCHOFINGER as a PC game coming to Steam, and Steam remains the most detailed storefront for wishlisting and PC specifications.
However, an official PlayStation Store listing for PSYCHOFINGER is also live under Digital Bandidos LLC.
That store page currently marks the game as Announced, with an undetermined release date and single-player support.
The PC-only wording therefore does not represent every verified storefront currently available.
Neither Steam nor PlayStation has a finalized launch date, and no final retail price has been announced.
Why This Matters
1) The finger concept actually drives the systems
Finger guns, hand gestures, weapon switching and perks are all built around the hand-as-arsenal idea rather than serving as a trailer-only visual gag.
2) Roguelike progression leaves room for absurd builds
Ricochets, low gravity, summons and spare hands suggest runs are designed to become increasingly chaotic as players grow stronger.
3) Familiar gestures become functional mechanics
Hearts, photo poses, the middle finger and KON take recognizable hand shapes and turn them directly into combat tools.
4) Its story is deliberately being revealed in pieces
The Department of Metaphysical Investigations and multiple endings give players a reason to repeat levels beyond simply improving scores or builds.
